The Royal Palace of Caserta (Reggia di Caserta) is a monumental palace in Campania, south Italy, often referred to as the “Italian Versailles.” Constructed in the 18th century for the Bourbon kings of Naples, it is one of the largest palaces in Europe, with more than 1,200 rooms spread across five floors. The interior of the palace is lavishly decorated with frescoes, stuccos, sculptures, and ornate furniture, showcasing the opulence of the Bourbon dynasty. Surrounding the palace are vast, meticulously landscaped gardens that extend for kilometers. These include the formal Italian garden with its geometric flowerbeds, fountains, and sculptures, as well as the English garden, which features winding paths, romantic ruins, and exotic plants.
